Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on Marketpedia, why each category exists, how long each one lasts and exactly how to accept, refuse or later withdraw your consent without losing access to any research on the site.

We keep tracking deliberately light. There are no advertising networks embedded in our pages, no behavioural ad profiles built from your reading, and no cross-site identifiers sold to third parties. The only non-essential technologies we use are audience measurement and affiliate attribution.

Every page on this site is written by the research desk, checked against the regulator's public register before publication and dated so you can see how current it is. Where we quote a cost, a spread or a protection limit, it comes from documentation the firm publishes itself rather than from marketing copy. Use the buttons below to jump straight to the comparison tools, the full review library or the method we follow.

How this cookie policy is organised

This document is published in full rather than summarised, because the detail is the point. Each numbered section below covers one subject only, so you can read the part that applies to you without wading through the rest, and every section is written in plain English rather than the compressed legal shorthand that makes policies like this go unread.

We keep the wording current. Where a rule changes, a supplier changes or our own practice changes, the affected section is rewritten and the date at the top of the page is updated with it — we do not leave superseded text in place and rely on you not noticing. If any part of this page is unclear, the desk answers questions on it directly and will explain the reasoning behind a clause rather than simply quoting it back.

Nothing on this page is financial advice and nothing here creates an advisory relationship. Marketpedia publishes independent research and education about brokers and markets; decisions about where you open an account and what you trade remain entirely your own, and leveraged products carry a real risk of losing more than you expect.

Use the quick links below to jump straight to a section, or read the page from top to bottom — it is short enough to do in a single sitting.

1

What cookies are and why sites use them

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website and returned to that site on later visits. Related technologies include local storage, session storage and tracking pixels, all of which perform a similar function of remembering something between page loads. Throughout this policy we use the word cookie to cover all of them.

Cookies are described as first-party when set by the site you are visiting and third-party when set by another domain whose content or link is present on the page. They are described as session cookies when they expire the moment you close your browser and persistent when they survive until a fixed expiry date or until you delete them.

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested may be set without consent. Every other category requires your informed, freely given consent before it is placed, which is why the preference panel appears on your first visit.

2

The cookie categories we use

Strictly necessary cookies keep the site working. They remember your cookie choices so the banner does not reappear on every page, maintain security tokens that protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and support load balancing so pages are served from a healthy server. These cannot be switched off within the site because the site cannot function without them.

Analytics cookies help us understand which research is read and where readers give up. We use privacy-focused measurement that records page views, referring source, approximate country and device type, with IP addresses truncated before storage. We do not use these to identify individuals or to build reading profiles across other websites.

Affiliate attribution cookies record that a click to a broker originated on Marketpedia so that any resulting account opening can be credited to us. In most cases these are set by the broker or their affiliate network on their own domain at the moment you follow the link, not by us on this domain.

  • Strictly necessary — always on
  • Analytics — consent required
  • Affiliate attribution — consent required
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies
  • No social media tracking pixels
  • No data sold to third parties
3

How long each cookie lasts

Security and session cookies expire when you close the browser. The cookie that stores your consent choices lasts six months, after which the preference panel will ask again so your consent stays current rather than being inherited indefinitely.

Analytics identifiers are rotated at least every twenty-four hours, which means returning visits on different days are not linked to a single persistent identity. Aggregate reports derived from them contain no identifiers at all and are retained for editorial planning.

Affiliate attribution windows are set by each broker and typically range from thirty to ninety days. If you clear cookies, use a different browser or browse privately, the attribution simply fails and no referral is recorded — nothing about your account, pricing or eligibility changes.

4

Managing and withdrawing consent

You can change your mind at any time. Reopening the cookie preference panel from the link in the footer lets you turn analytics and affiliate categories on or off individually, and the change takes effect immediately for subsequent page loads.

Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies directly. In Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari this sits under privacy or site settings, where you can clear existing cookies, block third-party cookies entirely, or set the browser to delete everything on exit. Mobile browsers offer the same controls under settings.

Blocking all cookies, including strictly necessary ones, may cause forms to fail and the consent banner to reappear on every page, because the site can no longer remember that you have answered it. Refusing only the non-essential categories has no effect whatsoever on your ability to read every article, table and review on the site.

5

Third parties and embedded content

Pages occasionally embed content hosted elsewhere, such as a video explainer or a chart image. Where embedded content is present, the provider may set its own cookies once the content loads, and those cookies are governed by the provider's policy rather than ours. We load such embeds only after consent where they are not essential.

Broker websites you reach through our links are entirely separate services operated by regulated firms with their own privacy and cookie notices. We have no control over what they set once you leave this site, and we encourage you to read the notice on any broker site before opening an account.

We do not permit third-party advertising networks, data brokers or social listening tools to operate on this domain. If you find a cookie on Marketpedia that is not described in this policy, please tell us at info@marketpedia.co.uk and we will investigate and update this page.

6

Changes to this cookie policy

We review this policy whenever we add or remove a technology that touches your device, and at least once a year regardless. The update date at the top of the page always reflects the most recent substantive revision.

Where a change introduces a new non-essential category, your existing consent is reset and the preference panel will ask again before anything new is placed. We will not assume that consent given for analytics extends to any different purpose.

For the wider picture of what we do with information once it reaches us, including your rights of access and erasure, read this alongside our privacy policy, which covers all personal data handling rather than cookies alone.
