What moved the market, and why it mattered

Short, sourced coverage of equities, currencies and commodities, written by the same desk that scores the brokers.

Every page on this site is written by the research desk, checked against the regulator's public register before publication and dated so you can see how current it is. Where we quote a cost, a spread or a protection limit, it comes from documentation the firm publishes itself rather than from marketing copy. Use the buttons below to jump straight to the comparison tools, the full review library or the method we follow.

How our market coverage is organised

Everything in this newsroom is written by the same people who test the brokers, which means the coverage is deliberately narrow and deliberately practical. We are not trying to report every headline. We are explaining the handful of moves in currencies, equities and commodities that change what a retail position is worth, and saying clearly what is known versus what is being guessed.

The top of the page carries the day's main pieces, each one sourced and dated. Below that, the market columns split coverage by asset class so you can follow only the markets you actually trade — currency traders are not made to scroll through equity earnings, and the reverse holds too. Read times are shown on every card because your attention is the scarcest thing you bring to a screen.

Further down sit our original research reports. These are longer, slower pieces built from data we collected ourselves: cost surveys across dozens of brokers, execution studies during high-impact releases, and reviews of how platform behaviour changes under stress. They are published in full with the method attached so the working can be checked.

Nothing in this section is a trading signal or a recommendation to buy or sell anything. It is context, written so that when a price moves you understand the mechanism behind it rather than only the direction.

Sterling firms as rate-cut odds quietly fade again

Two firmer services prints in a row have pushed the first fully priced cut back into the following quarter, and the gilt curve has moved with it. We look at what the repricing means for GBP crosses and for anyone holding overnight positions through the next MPC meeting.

Industry reports

These are the studies our desk builds from its own data rather than from anybody's press release. Each one names its sample, its collection window and the accounts the numbers came from, so the working can be checked line by line instead of taken on trust.

Cost surveys are rebuilt every quarter, execution studies are timed through scheduled releases when spreads widen, and platform studies are run on funded accounts under load. Every report is free to read in full, with no signup, no email wall and no sponsored placement anywhere in the ranking.
