Privacy Policy

This privacy notice explains what personal data Marketpedia Research Ltd collects when you read our broker research, subscribe to our newsletter, contact the desk or click through to a broker, how that data is used, how long it is kept and who it is shared with.

We are the data controller for the information described here. We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, and we keep collection to the minimum needed to run an editorial website.

Every page on this site is written by the research desk, checked against the regulator's public register before publication and dated so you can see how current it is. Where we quote a cost, a spread or a protection limit, it comes from documentation the firm publishes itself rather than from marketing copy. Use the buttons below to jump straight to the comparison tools, the full review library or the method we follow.

How this privacy policy is organised

This document is published in full rather than summarised, because the detail is the point. Each numbered section below covers one subject only, so you can read the part that applies to you without wading through the rest, and every section is written in plain English rather than the compressed legal shorthand that makes policies like this go unread.

We keep the wording current. Where a rule changes, a supplier changes or our own practice changes, the affected section is rewritten and the date at the top of the page is updated with it — we do not leave superseded text in place and rely on you not noticing. If any part of this page is unclear, the desk answers questions on it directly and will explain the reasoning behind a clause rather than simply quoting it back.

Nothing on this page is financial advice and nothing here creates an advisory relationship. Marketpedia publishes independent research and education about brokers and markets; decisions about where you open an account and what you trade remain entirely your own, and leveraged products carry a real risk of losing more than you expect.

Use the quick links below to jump straight to a section, or read the page from top to bottom — it is short enough to do in a single sitting.

1

Who we are and how to reach us

Marketpedia Research Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales, operating an independent editorial site covering FCA-authorised forex, spread betting and CFD brokers. Our registered office is 37th Floor, 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 9XQ.

We are not a broker, an investment firm or a financial adviser, and we do not hold client money or execute trades. Nothing published on this site is a personal recommendation. Our relationship with you is that of a publisher to a reader, which shapes the very limited categories of personal data we hold.

Any question about this notice, including a request to exercise your data rights, can be sent to info@marketpedia.co.uk or by post to the registered office address above. We aim to acknowledge every data enquiry within three working days and to respond substantively within one calendar month.

2

The personal data we collect

Most visitors read this site without giving us any directly identifying information. Where personal data is collected, it falls into four groups: information you volunteer, information collected automatically by our servers and analytics, information generated when you click an affiliate link to a broker, and correspondence you send to the desk.

Information you volunteer includes an email address if you subscribe to the weekly research briefing, and any name, email address or message content you provide when contacting us or submitting a correction to a review. We do not ask for financial details, trading account numbers, identity documents or copies of statements, and you should never send them to us.

Information collected automatically includes your IP address in truncated form, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time on page and approximate city-level location derived from the IP address. This is used to understand which research is useful and to keep the site secure and available.

  • Email address for the research briefing
  • Messages sent to the editorial desk
  • Truncated IP address and device data
  • Pages viewed and referring source
  • Affiliate click and conversion events
  • Cookie preferences you have set

Affiliate links and broker referrals

When you click a link to a broker, the destination site may record that the visit originated with us so that any resulting account opening can be attributed. This attribution typically uses a first-party or third-party cookie set by the broker or their affiliate network, not by us, and it is governed by that broker's own privacy notice.

We receive reporting on referred activity in aggregate or pseudonymised form. That reporting can include the date of a click, the campaign identifier and whether an account was opened and funded. We do not receive your name, your address, your deposit amounts, your trading history or your account credentials, and we never ask for them.

Declining non-essential cookies does not prevent you from using any broker link on this site. It may mean the broker cannot attribute the referral, which affects our revenue but not your account, your pricing or the terms you are offered. Commission arrangements never influence rankings, scores or verdicts, as set out in full in our advertiser disclosure.

5

Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share reader email addresses with brokers or with any advertiser. Personal data is shared only with service providers who process it on our instructions under a written contract: our website hosting and content delivery provider, our privacy-focused analytics provider, our email delivery platform and our accountants.

Where a provider processes data outside the United Kingdom, transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Addendum to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, together with technical measures such as encryption in transit and at rest.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so, for example in response to a valid order from a court, the Financial Conduct Authority or the Information Commissioner's Office, or where disclosure is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Any such disclosure is limited to what is strictly required.

6

How long we keep information

Newsletter subscriptions are held until you unsubscribe, and we remove addresses that have not opened an email for twenty-four consecutive months. Correspondence with the desk is retained for two years so we can follow up corrections and complaints, after which it is deleted unless it forms part of an ongoing matter.

Server and security logs are retained for ninety days. Aggregate analytics that can no longer identify an individual are kept indefinitely because they inform editorial planning. Financial records involving individuals are retained for six full financial years as required by HMRC.

When a retention period ends, records are deleted or irreversibly anonymised. Backups are cycled on a rolling basis, so a deleted record may persist in an encrypted backup for a short period before being overwritten in the ordinary course.

7

Your rights and how to use them

Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and the right to withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@marketpedia.co.uk with a brief description of your request. We do not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. We may ask for information to confirm your identity, but only what is proportionate to the request being made.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would ask you to raise the matter with us first so we have the opportunity to put things right quickly.

  • Access a copy of your data
  • Correct anything inaccurate
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to legitimate-interest processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time
  • Complain to the ICO

Security, children and changes to this notice

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS with modern transport security, administrative access requires multi-factor authentication, and access to the small amount of personal data we hold is limited to the individuals who need it to do their job. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep our attack surface deliberately small by not collecting sensitive data in the first place.

This site is intended for adults aged eighteen or over. Leveraged trading products are not appropriate for children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under eighteen. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We review this notice at least annually and whenever we change how data is handled. Material changes are announced on this page with a revised update date, and subscribers are notified by email before a change takes effect where the change concerns email data.
